Thanksgiving by the numbers

We’re all looking forward to the break next week.

A lot of effort goes into getting everybody the materials we need for Thanksgiving. According to the U.S. Census Bureau:

  • They have to kill 248 million turkeys. I wonder what they do with all those turkey heads?
  • We’ll eat 750 million pounds of cranberries. That’s a lot of stained T-shirts.
  • Americans will also consume 2.4 billion pounds of sweet potatoes, with brown sugar … and marshmallows. Mmmm.
  • And another 1.1 billion pounds of pumpkins. I think Halloween is jealous.
  • And don’t forget 665,340 tons of green beans. It’s bean a while since I have had that many green beans.

But when we are chowing down on all the goods the hard work will pay off!
